Grigory Chervyak, Instrumentation Fitter Grigory Chervyak is a legend of Naftagaz-Drilling. Aged 84, he is still working in the Company. Grigory, a certified agricultural economist from Chernigov Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR, was managing a data processing centre in the City of Priluki when his friend, a driller, encouraged him to move to the new, developing City of Noyabrsk.
At his new job, where he started out as a fitter, then got promoted to instrumentation foreman and supervisor, Grigory Chervyak set up a data centre for procession of accounting statements, payroll and stock records using Askota-170 computing machines. He also participated in the construction of an automated line for pressure testing and identification of defects of drill pipes, with recording equipment used to log the data. In 1990 he was awarded the “Veteran Worker” medal.
In the 21st century, Grigory Chervyak retired from the position of site supervisor, only retaining his fitter duties. He is now responsible for ensuring the functionality and maintenance of drilling rig instrumentation. Despite his age, his skills are still exquisite, and the quality of his repair work is admired by his teammates. Even though he has been retired for some time, Grigory Chervyak intends to work for as long as he is able, because he claims that staying at home is boring.
And since he is always willing to share his enormous job experience and encyclopaedic knowledge with his younger colleagues, it is a win-win situation. On multiple occasions, he was awarded certificates, commendations, cash premiums and valuable gifts for his excellent performance and many years of fruitful work activity. He was voted the "Best in Trade" at professional skills competitions.
