At Varyogan project at the Severo-Khokhryakovskoye field, Naftagaz is a contractor of Varyoganneftegaz, which is a subsidiary of NK Rosneft.
This field of Varyoganneftegaz Group of Companies has the highest potential in terms of development of new reserves, and is the largest field ever discovered in the territory of Nizhnevartovsk District. The Severo-Khokhryakov license block covers 412 sq. km. Due to complex geological structure and lack of efficient production technologies, active development of the field started only in 2012, and at that time the degree of the field well development did not exceed 20 %, and the reserves recovery was only 5 %. The petroleum experts managed to solve the problem of low permeability and heterogeneity of formation layers by applying the technology of drilling horizontal wells with multi-stage hydraulic fracturing. Today, approximately 2,000 tonnes of oil per day are produced here.
