Winners of the first scientific and technical conference in NaftaGaz announced

The first scientific and technical conference was held at NaftaGaz, which brought together young specialists and experienced employees aspiring to introduce new technologies and new approaches in solving urgent production problems.

The aim of the scientific and technical conference is to enhance scientific and technical creativity and further development of this potential among the company's personnel. The conference will be held once a year, and any specialist is welcome to take part in it. The organizing committee, the evaluation commission and the jury consisting of the heads of the directions are in charge of preparing and holding of the conference, as well as evaluating the papers.

The papers are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • relevance of the issue

  • possibility of practical application

  • economic feasibility

  • novelty of the issue

  • quality of the report and materials

  • comprehensiveness of the study

At the end of the conference, the winners are awarded with valuable gifts, cash prizes, and diplomas. Participation in the scientific and technical conference is considered by the company's management as one of the important factors for inclusion in the talent pool.

This year, about 10 papers were submitted to the organizing committee, and three most competently prepared projects were selected for the final decision of the expert jury:

Maxim Trinko, assistant driller, presented a project on the topic “Application of a vacuum sludge dryer to minimize losses of hydrocarbon-based drilling fluids”. In the presentation, he explained in detail the working principle of the vacuum sludge dryer and the effect of its application.

Vladimir Tolpekin, Head of the Well Log Gaps Team, spoke on the innovative topic “Additive Technologies in the Oil and Gas Industry”. He proposed to use 3D technologies in the serial production of the most necessary spare parts for the drilling process. In-house production will reduce the cost of parts, especially small batch parts, reduce the time to restore worn parts in situ, improve the production of parts with exact geometry, reduce their weight, increase their service life, and also shorten the logistics process of delivering the necessary parts.

Andriy Gaiduk, Lead Process Engineer for Directional Drilling (DD), proposed to introduce the Process Engineer's Handbook and make it accessible on the corporate portal for the ease of use.  The electronic handbook will always be at hand and in a a clear way set out important information to improve work efficiency, standardize processes, train and upgrade the qualifications of the personnel, reduce the likelihood of errors, and increase the level of safety at the enterprise.

After evaluating all the speeches, it was decided to recognize all three proposals as worthy of awards. Each participant of the first scientific and technical conference of NaftaGaz was awarded a diploma for participation and souvenirs. In addition, the participants will also receive cash prizes.

Maxim Trinko, a young specialist of the company, was promoted to assistant drilling foreman for his successful participation in the scientific and technical conference.
