Learn moreNaftaGaz implementing a complex project at the Archinskoye Field
Naftagaz-Drilling has completed the first well at the Archinskoye field to reach the target horizon of Palaeozoic deposits with a 100% PTR. The vertical depth of the producing horizon represented by porous fractured vuggy reservoir rock reaches 3050–3100 m. This complicates the construction of wells, as there is a high risk of lost circulation. The tail pipe running depth reaches 4800 m along the borehole.
The works are performed under the Vostok project at the facilities of Gazpromneft-Vostok LLC that implements large-scale hi-tech projects for extraction of both conventional and hard-to-recover reserves at the Shinginskoye, Smolyanoye, Yuzhno-Shinginskoye, Urmanskoye, Archinskoye, and Zapadno-Luginetskoye fields.
In his letter of appreciation to the team of Naftagaz-Drilling LLC, Vitaly Chuikov, Director for Commissioning of New Capacities of Gazpromneft-Vostok, took note of “a professional approach, efficient and safe performance of works” at the Archinskoye field as a whole, especially in terms of occupational safety.
Carbonate reservoir rock encountered at the Archinskoye field develops at the place where former coral reefs used to grow as a result of sedimentation in water. Oftentimes, the rock has too many fractures, and the oil is hidden in the fractures and fissures, which complicates the development process significantly.
The Archinskoye oil and gas condensate field is located in the Parabelsky District of the Tomsk Region. During the frost-free season, staff, equipment, and materials may only be delivered by helicopters. The Archinskoye field is distinct for large gas reserves combined with a high oil yield. Total A, B, and C1 oil reserves reach about 18.22 bln tonnes, and gas reserves – 0.49 bln cubic metres. Total condensate reserves amount to about one million tonnes. The development of the field is complicated by the fact that the hydrocarbons occur in the low-permeable Palaeozoic carbonate sediments. This is the reason why active commercial development of the field discovered back in 1981 did not start until 2012. In the period since 2018, NaftaGaz has drilled around 90 thousand metres at the Archinskoye field.
