6 New Drilling Rigs of Naftagaz Started Working at Gazprom Neft Facilities

Six new drilling rigs were commissioned by the oilfield services company Naftagaz at the Yamal project at the Vyngayakhinskoye, Vyngapurovskoye, Tazovskoye, and Urengoyskoye fields of Gazprom Neft. Naftagaz's drilling rig fleet has been modernized by more than 80%, and the average age of the rig has been reduced by 6.5 years. This is due to the implementation of the capital assets renewal strategy: investment in equipment and materials amounted to 6.7 billion rubles over 2015-2021.

In 2021 alone, about 1 billion rubles was assigned for this purpose: four sets of new 3900/225EK pad drilling rigs, two sets of mud pump units based on the 1200 kW F-1600L VFD pumps, two sets of 3,150 kN DQ-50LHTY top drive systems, as well as two ZJ-50 DBS cluster drilling rigs (320 t load capacity). This equipment is already in use under existing Naftagaz contracts .

At the end of the year, Naftagaz and Uralmash NGO Holding also signed a contract for delivery of the BU 6000/400 drilling rig with increased capacity and block-modular design with double tier block arrangement. It is equipped with AC frequency-controlled drive with a digital control system designed for the Extreme North climatic conditions and ensures pad drilling of oil and gas production wells with a conditional depth of up to 6000 m. The deed was signed by the CEO of Naftagaz, Islam Nazaraliev, and the CEO of Uralmash NGO Holding, Yuri Karpov. The rig is expected to be handed over in September 2022.

Naftagaz is a Top-5 independent drilling contractor accredited by Russian oil and gas majors. Its primary customers are Gazprom Neft PJSC and Rosneft NK PJSC subsidiaries. Since its foundation, the company has drilled over 3.9 million metres (966 wells). The company’s headcount exceeds 2000 employees. The company’s production base is in Noyabrsk (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area).
