Last year was very successful for the Russian oilfield service company NaftaGaz. The order portfolio continued increasing at a record pace, the total annual contracted services grew by 28%. We concluded drilling contracts with the term until 2024 inclusive.
The total meterage drilled by Naftagaz-Drilling in 2019 was almost 757,000 m. This is an all-time record for an independent company that was achieved merely in 5 plus years. We made efforts to gradually improve the figures: at the end of 2019 the average duration of drilling operations decreased by 1.4% and the interwell period decreased by 36.7%, the commercial drilling speed increased by 4.1%. Naftagaz-Drilling built 188 wells during the year. There are 129 horizontal wells, that is almost 70 percent.
Last summer, the total meterage drilled by the company from the beginning of its activities in 2014 was two million meters. According to our forecasts, the next landmark of three million meters drilled will be achieved in October 2020.
We started cooperating with the new client JSC RN-Nyaganneftegaz, a subsidiary of the largest global oil and gas company Rosneft. The activities at the Kamennoye field will last until 2022. Another Rosneft subsidiary, RN-Purneftegaz, recognised the drilling unit of Naftagaz-Drilling as the year’s best service enterprise in terms of occupational safety. Other oil&gas market leaders also recognise the achievements of their reliable partner: the Noyabrsk drillers were be at the top of the internal list of efficient contractors of the exploration and production block of PJSC Gazprom neft both in 2018, and 2019.
The company continues focusing on continuous personnel training. Drilling foremen have Safety Days and Foreman Days when they learn about up-to-date production problems and the latest occupational safety requirements, in particular, in the form of modern games. The company has an in-house school for promising drilling foremen, supervisors and drillers.
The company continued developing the forum for contractors and the client, i.e. the Coordination Council ‘Partner’ that combines most independent drilling foremen in Russia, where NaftaGaz is talking an active part. The Council meetings are dedicated to discussing the current status of occupational safety at the client’s facilities, the requirements for workers and equipment, the latest practices and prospects.
The service enterprise Naftagaz-Service that specialises, first of all, in rigging-up operations, also develops steadily. The scope of work and, hence, the number of rig-up crews increased. The company plans to replace some vehicles and special machinery in its fleet with new ones.
